It’s just been announced that any decison on whether to pursue prosecutions over the Grenfell Tower Fire is unlikely before 2021.
This delay amounts to a Systemic Denial of Justice.
Natasha Elcock, chair of Grenfell United the group, which represents survivors and bereaved relatives, has yet to be told details of the next stage of the inquiry. (Grenfell Tower Prosecutions, BBC)
Chairman Sir Martin Moore-Bick said the second phase was unlikely to start until the end of 2019.
“Vague reassurances are wearing thin,” [Ms Elcock] said. “Families need clear commitments to keep faith in this process”.
We need to overhaul Public Inquiries. We need to stop knighted insiders and their friends profiting from delay.
We need Citizens’ Inquiries to deliver justice.
